Comparing and Contrasting Violence in the American South

violence didnt seem that different towards african americans before and after the war.  however as i went more deep and read more texts i clearly saw a vast amount of difference in torture towards the blacks. before the war if a black men or women commited a crime they would get lashes until they fainted like mary reynolds who was tied by her white master on a tree and was beaten till she was fainted it was very very inhuman but not severe enough to get her killed remember the white owner owned her since he  bought her he wouldnt to kill her.  but after the war the sad story of african american torture was taken to a next level.  now they were considered as 'satans'.  an african american was crusified and burned to ashes in front of thousands of people and his name was henry smith.  the reason why he was burned alive was because he commited a crime, he killed a little girl it was basically a revenge anyhow the case shouldve gone to the court but instead people took the matter in their own hands as usual and decided to give him a painful death which was a norm in south.  they protraited him him in front of the public as if he was a satan though he was mentally retarted moreover they burned every part of his body with hot irons and after his death they put kerosene over his body putted him on fire and turned him into ashes.

My names adnan razzaq I'm originally from Pakistan but I've been living in America for about 7 years.  As I was growing up there I had no idea how human rights apply to us heck I didn't even know what human rights are. Now as I'm growing up in America I got a sense of our rights and I'm still in the process of learning all the human rights and how they are applied to us.  Language was a problem for me when i moved to the us.  i used to pull my hair out when I didn't understand what people are saying however as I am spending more time I am continuously learning the language.   So I know the frustration people go through when they don't get their rights.

Lynch Law in All Its Phases

This blog is basically dedicated to those innocent souls that lost their lives through lynching.  This was one of the darkest period in American history when African Americans were being killed with little or no reason and without the interference from the government whatsoever.  This case that I am going to mention is about this African American who was murdered in front of thousands of whites supermacist.  His biggest and only mistake of his life that he fell in love with a white woman openly.  This excerpt was taken from the book The Southern Horrors and Other Writings and this book was written by a very popular personality Ida B. Wells and it was edited by Jacqueline Jones Royster.  It was a barbarous act toward both the African American  and the white woman.  it was a very brutal barbarous savaged act.  As Well said in her text, "an African American was burned alive protesting his innocence" (wells, 57).  Edward Coy was his name and he was accused of raping a white woman whom he had sexual relationship with.  The white woman also was open to being sexually active with Coy.  However she was threatened by superior white men and she had to cooperate with them.  Eventually she filed a complaint against him of raping which gave the whites a reason to lynch the African American.  It was love that led to lynch and in the end it was her who lit the match when Edward Coy was burned alive even though she was against it.  In my opinion she played a great part in his death and might not be in love with him because if she truly loved him she would go against any odd.

in my opinion human rights is just a way of securing ones self from the 'system' and language is connected with it because we use it to raise our voice.  when our rights are violated or in other words we feel harm mentally and/or physically.  in the book we should post pictures under underneath them there should be quotations and the explanation of the quotations
